IB RESULTS – What you need to achieve
Six subjects must be taken plus Theory of Knowledge, CAS (50 hours each of creative, action and service work) and a 4000 word extended essay3 of these subjects at least are taken at Higher level (HL) and the rest usually 3 at Standard (SL)
In each of the 6 subjects you can achieve 0 to 7 points.
A further 3 points is available across your essay and Theory of Knowledge.
The highest you can achieve is 45 points
The IBO has given these as their general results per point per subject
7 = excellent
6 = very good
5 = good
4 = satisfactory
3 = mediocre
2 = poor
1 = very poor
To gain a diploma you must achieve at least 24 points as well as
- Completed your TOK, CAS and essay – with TOK or Essay achieving at least a grade D
- All subjects must have a grade of 2 or higher.
- If your final total score is 24-27 points then no grade 2 are allowed at HL and no more than one 2 at SL.
- If you final total score is 28 or more then you must have no more than on 2 at HL and no more than two 2’s at SL
- All together though there must be no more than three grades 3 or below
- At least 12 points must be gained at your HL subjects (16 if you take four HL subjects)
- The final aware committee must not have judged the candidate to be guilty of malpractice.
Below 16 you do not get anything.
